Contract and Sustainability Analyst – Landfill Services

Are you passionate about long term sustainability? We are seeking and Contract and Sustainability Analyst to lead our Sustainability and Waste Minimisation programme at the Nelson Tasman Regional Landfill.

Kō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role:

Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council jointly manage wastewater treatment and landfill services through our team. Reporting to the General Manager Regional Sewerage and Landfill Services, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting projects to improve sustainability activities, and to support and raise awareness on waste minimisation and sustainability activities in collaboration with the two Councils.
  • Leading community engagement activities taking local communities for tours through our facilities and raising public awareness
  • Monitoring landfill consents through data collection and testing, further developing our emission profile.
  • Supporting asset management, and asset valuation activities.
  • Supporting our Operations Manager in the management of Hazardous Waste, and minimising effects on the environment.
  • Supervising or supporting the design, construction and reporting of landfill activities to ensure they comply with contract terms and meet performance.

To succeed in this position you should have:

  • An understanding of or willingness to develop knowledge of sustainable practices and Emissions Analysis.
  • Have skills and experience in data management and information analysis, and the ability to develop, manage and report on activity plans.
  • Ability to undertake site and asset inspections and sampling using accurate methodologies to ensure accurate reporting.
  • The ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group ranging from laboratories and technical experts to contractors, designers and developers.
  • High level written and oral communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience in a relevant engineering, accounting, project management, or science field would be beneficial, experience in design, construction documentation and reporting would be also be beneficial but neither are necessary.
