The role is located just minutes from Invercargill’s city centre - we are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Supervisor / Cook to lead the kitchen team and help enrich the lives of our 60 residents.Nestled on over 9 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens it offers the successful applicant a calm, homely atmosphere for both residents and staff.
As Kitchen Supervisor / Cook, you will:- Plan and prepare a variety of nutritious, home-style meals and snacks for residents with diverse dietary needs—including modified textures, allergies, and cultural preferences.
- Lead and mentor a small, supportive kitchen team.
- Oversee staff rosters and ensure appropriate cover as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen that meets all Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with Food Act 2014 and operate within a verified Food Control Plan.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and minimise food waste.
- Ensure the kitchen operates with an approved and audited seasonal menu (Winter/Summer), as required in residential care settings.
You’ll be cooking for residents across a range of support needs, including aged care, intellectual and physical disabilities, and mental health—experience in these areas is an advantage, but not essential.
What We’re Looking For- Proven experience as a cook in a commercial or residential facility
- Experience supervising staff and managing kitchen operations (this includes stock control and ordering)
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and dietary requirements
- Ability to plan and deliver menu cycles in line with compliance requirements
- Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
- Compassionate, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for working with people
- Flexibility to work weekends when required

Requirements
- Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must pass a clean police check and drug screening
- Reliable transport to and from work
