Bring Your Passion for Cooking into a Role That Truly Makes a Difference

The role is located just minutes from Invercargill’s city centre - we are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Supervisor / Cook to lead the kitchen team and help enrich the lives of our 60 residents.

Nestled on over 9 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens it offers the successful applicant a calm, homely atmosphere for both residents and staff.

As Kitchen Supervisor / Cook, you will:
  • Plan and prepare a variety of nutritious, home-style meals and snacks for residents with diverse dietary needs—including modified textures, allergies, and cultural preferences.
  • Lead and mentor a small, supportive kitchen team.
  • Oversee staff rosters and ensure appropriate cover as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organised kitchen that meets all Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Act 2014 and operate within a verified Food Control Plan.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and minimise food waste.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates with an approved and audited seasonal menu (Winter/Summer), as required in residential care settings.

You’ll be cooking for residents across a range of support needs, including aged care, intellectual and physical disabilities, and mental health—experience in these areas is an advantage, but not essential.

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a cook in a commercial or residential facility
  • Experience supervising staff and managing kitchen operations (this includes stock control and ordering)
  • Solid understanding of food safety regulations and dietary requirements
  • Ability to plan and deliver menu cycles in line with compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
  • Compassionate, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for working with people
  • Flexibility to work weekends when required

What We Offer

  • Meaningful work that directly impacts resident wellbeing
  • Stable hours and a consistent schedule
  • Professional growth in the residential care sector
  • Work surrounded by peaceful gardens and beautiful scenery
  • Enjoy the lifestyle benefits of Invercargill: affordable living, friendly locals, and easy access to Fiordland, Queenstown, and the southern coast
________________________________________
Requirements
  • Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must pass a clean police check and drug screening
  • Reliable transport to and from work
