Drainlayer/Plumber
The Qualified Drainlayer – Team Leader is responsible for leading a drainage crew and managing day-to-day site operations across a range of civil construction projects. This role ensures high-quality installation of drainage, water reticulation, and civil infrastructure while maintaining strong health and safety practices and delivering projects on time and to specification.
Location: Various sites across Hawke's BayStart date: 19th January 2026
Pay rate: $35 to $50 per hour depending on experience (paid weekly)
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Drainage and water reticulation set-out and installation
- Leading and managing a drainage team on-site
- Operating machinery (excavators, trucks, rollers, etc.)
- Coordinating with contractors and other workers
- Running site works to meet project deadlines
- Completing app-based health and safety documentation
- Following all health, safety, and company policies
- Lead and supervise drainage crews to complete project tasks efficiently and safely.
- Coordinate daily activities, allocate tasks, and monitor performance and productivity.
- Provide on-the-job guidance, support, and training to team members.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and clients as required.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Minimum 5 years’ drainage experience
- Drainlaying qualification or extensive experience
- Class 1 licence (or higher)
- WTR endorsement
- Excavator and civil construction machinery experience
- General civil construction background
- Physically fit, reliable, and hardworking
This role offers:
