ABOUT THE POSITION

We have an outstanding opportunity for a trade-certified agricultural technician with a passion for the Ag industry and technology, and who wants to be a key player in the Cochranes Service and Support department at our Ashburton Branch. This position is a field service role aimed at a qualified heavy diesel technician who wants to join a company that is moving forward both with agricultural technology and company infrastructure, and has pathways for specialisation within the trade.

ABOUT THE BRANCH

These new amenities have allowed for future growth within the region with both the CASE IH and New Holland Tractor /Harvest brands, as well as our cultivation, tillage and agricultural support equipment.

Cochranes Ashburton staff work with a predominance of High Horsepower/ Flagship Case IH and New Holland Machinery as well as associated agricultural equipment. This is exciting, cutting-edge machinery that is at the forefront of the cropping and cultivation sphere.

• A willingness to learn and grow with our company and the brands we support
• Ability to communicate well (both written and oral) with both staff and customers in the farming community, whilst having confidence in your mechanical and troubleshooting abilities to get the job done.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and understand how mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems operate on both old and new machinery quickly and effectively with the ability to troubleshoot and repair.
• Being a Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with Experience in the maintenance and repair of Agricultural machinery is a must-have for this position, experience with Tractors, Combine Harvesters or Hay Balers is definitely desirable. Qualified Heavy Diesel mechanics from other industries (such as construction, heavy diesel, forestry etc.) may be considered if they have some agriculture sector experience.
• Diagnostic and overhaul experience would be advantageous to applicants if they have this in their skill set
• A sense of humour and a Team oriented, positive ‘can-do’ attitude is essential
