**About the Business:**

The Support Services Management Accounting Team is part of the TSA Finance Department. The role of TSA Finance is to support the mission of The Salvation Army by providing the finance and accounting function to The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa Territory.

The Support Services Management Accounting Team provides accounting and finance expertise to Mission Centres to support frontline decision-making. The team works with the Mission Centres so that they understand their financial performance, position and viability and the cause of budget and forecasting variances.

The team supports Mission Centres in their financial management, financial operations, use of systems and coordinates the budgeting and forecasting process.

The team will provide timely, relevant, and accurate financial information and advice which is consistent with The Salvation Army’s strategic direction, and that meets internal and external accountability requirements.

**About the Role:**

The Support Services Management Accountant role is responsible for the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements and supporting Mission Centres with budgeting/forecasting processes. This role ensures compliance with TSA financial policies, procedures and business processes, and supports Mission Centres with effective financial management, governance and control.

The Management Accountant provides timely financial analysis and performance insights to support decision-making, planning and evaluation, in alignment with the mission and ministry of TSA.

**What will your responsibilities be:**
  • Prepare and analyse monthly and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and performance commentary
  • Support the annual audit process and provide reporting schedules as required
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for assigned Mission Centres
  • Provide financial advice and business partnering support to Mission Centre leaders and management boards
  • Support financial governance, internal controls and compliance with TSA policies
  • Provide GST guidance and liaise with the TSA Tax Accountant on complex matters
  • Review and monitor reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and timely completion
  • Deliver financial training and support to budget holders and non-financial managers
  • Identify financial risks and contribute to mitigation strategies and performance monitoring
**Our ideal candidate will have:**
  • Bachelor’s degree (NZQF Level 7 or higher) in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (or recognised overseas equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ relevant management accounting experience in a large and complex organisation may substitute the qualification requirement
  • Membership of CA ANZ, CPA Australia or working towards a professional accounting qualification is highly desirable.
  • Preferably experience in a not-for-profit or public sector environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain credible relationship with Management Boards.
  • Experience in report-writing.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Strong risk management capability and awareness.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills using and interpreting complex data.
  • Advanced excel skills with a strong ability to present data clearly both numerically and through insightful graphs and narrative.
  • Proficiency with accounting software packages, particularly Tech-One Financials.

This role is **permanent full-time** and **hours worked will be 37.5 per week.**

The starting salary for this role will fall **between $76k and $85k**
