Chef's Assistant
Chinoiserie Bar and Eatery is an established restaurant in Auckland.
We are looking for two dedicated and enthusiastic chef’s assistant to asssist in preparing and cooking Vietnamese cuisines. As a chef's assistant, you will work closely with our chefs and kitchen staff, playing a vital role in food preparation, kitchen organization, and maintaining high-quality standards
Wages will be $25 - $28 per hour, depending on qualification and work experience.
Full time work – a minimum of 30 hours per week
Wages will be paid weekly.
Tasks:
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients
- Support chefs in the cooking and assembly of Vietnamese cuisines, ensuring adherence to recipes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
- Receive and store food deliveries, rotating stock to ensure freshness
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate the timely execution of food orders
- Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting any issues to the chef
- Always follow proper food safety and hygiene procedures
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and order in the kitchen environment
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety
- Previous experience in preparing Vietnamese cuisines an advantage
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with common kitchen equipment
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and hygiene
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced kitchen environment
