With a wide range of specialties and a strong consultant presence, this role is perfect for those wanting broad exposure and a supportive training environment.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Medical Registrar at Tauranga Hospital, you will join a vibrant Department of Medicine offering diverse training opportunities across a wide range of specialties including Acute General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Renal, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Health in Ageing, Haematology and Palliative Care.There are 36 Medical Registrar positions available, including two dedicated Advanced Trainee posts in Cardiology and Gastroenterology.

The training year is structured around two six-month runs.Tauranga Hospital is a 326-bed facility with approximately 90 medical beds, 39 elderly/rehabilitation beds (including acute stroke), a 10-bed ICU, 10-bed CCU, and a 28-bed Acute Assessment Unit.

You'll be part of a collegial, multi-disciplinary team working in a busy and rewarding environment.About the Team/ServiceThe Department of Medicine at Tauranga Hospital is a dynamic and supportive team of over 30 Consultants across a wide range of specialties, including General Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, and more.

Registrars work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative environment that values education, equity, and professional development.
Regular teaching, simulation training, and peer support are key features of the department.
