Cook, Invercargill
30 hours p/week, (Mon – Fri).
Cater Plus is proud to run the in-house kitchen at Southland Boys High School Boarding House, based in Invercargill. To support our small, experienced team, we are looking for an experienced Cook to work Monday to Friday across the morning shift.
This role is educational, meaning you will work 40 weeks per year and be able to enjoy school breaks off giving you quality time to spend with family or refresh.
In this busy role you will be responsible for making sandwiches, cheese rolls, putting away orders and supplies, stocking fridges, using the POS system & supporting the Canteen supervisor. You will take charge of the cleaning and dish duties to make sure the kitchen is kept clean and hazard free.
This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a cook with relevant experience who can:- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations
- Operate at a level that can take responsibility when required
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard-free environment.
