Horse care (Maternity Leave Cover)
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Horse Carer/Trainer to join our team at Marlborough Riding for The Disabled on a part-time (30 hours), maternity leave cover basis (Six months from late Jan to late July 2026). Based in Blenheim Central Marlborough, this hands-on role will see you caring and training for our herd of therapy horses so that we can provide equine therapy lessons to people in our community living with a disability or a challenge.
What you'll be doing
Responsible for the daily care and wellbeing of our therapy horses including, training equine team for RDA programmes, exercising and schooling, grooming, feeding, pasture management and stable management- Training of volunteers
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of our riding facilities
- Ensuring all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and monitoring safety
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the smooth running of our Riding for the Disabled programme
- Excellent horse handling and riding skills for our team of horses and ponies, with the ability to assess and handle horses of varying temperaments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients, volunteers, and the wider team
