Role: Senior Data Warehouse Platform EngineerReports to: Systems Lead, Technology and Digital ChannelsLocation: WellingtonJob type: Fixed term to 30th June 2026 Are you an experienced Platform, Site Reliability or DevOps Engineer, comfortable supporting, troubleshooting, maintaining and enhancing complex Data Warehouse solutions.Your significant experience working with business and technology stakeholders, analysts, developers, testers and vendors on Data Warehouse initiatives will see you advising and supporting the technology and data engineering teams of a large and complex organisation.You will also have a good awareness of enterprise architecture across a range of technology areas including business, application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure.You will also be: Improving outcomes for children, young people and families Being part of the Oranga Tamariki Technology and Channels team as we continue to mature our cloud capabilities and adopt leading edge technologies.

Mō te tūnga | About the roleOranga Tamariki has recently migrated from a legacy Data Warehouse solution to a modern cloud based Databricks environment that leverages Power BI as our primary reporting and analytics tool, with SFTP and Eightwire for data sharing.The Senior Datawarehouse Platform Engineer is responsible for the overall technical support, enhancement and maintenance of the Data Warehouse cloud platform.
Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring these platforms align with technical governance, commercial, financial and assurance processes, as well as with approved technology strategy.This is a highly skilled and specialist technical role with strong data and Data Warehouse experience and has a wide span of influence.
You will provide technical leadership for the design and management of large and complex Data Warehouse work initiatives. Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bringKey requirements of the role include: Significant experience as a Platform, Site Reliability or DevOps Engineer in complex, preferably cloud based, environments Strong database experience in platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, or MongoDB Experience with CI/CD pipelines in AzureDevOps or GitHub actions Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation or Bicep Familiar with analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau or SAP Analytics Cloud.
