Support Worker

Renaissance was born in 2001 from humble beginnings…..a garage to be precise! The decision to establish Renaissance was greatly inspired by a group of young disabled people from Auckland. They were determined to live in their own place and never have to go into institutional care again.

Their dream was to make flatting, have friends, socialising, work and settle down with someone they love, just as common and acceptable for disabled people as it is for the rest of the population. It was the determination of these young disabled individuals that gave the founders of Renaissance Group the impetus to set up services in the community that focused on choice and control for a disabled person.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

There are a couple of opportunities available. One option includes caregiving responsibilities, and the second focuses on coaching to build life skills for long-term independence for the disabled person.

The role may suit a female support worker with a background in caregiving, as you will be required to support two young women with their personal care needs as part of your weekly roster.

As a Support Worker at Renaissance Group, you’ll build relationships and support the achievement of quality-of-life outcomes for disabled people by:

  • Supporting goal achievement and independence.
  • Identifying, developing and supporting natural supports and community networks
  • Enhancing choice and control
  • Providing support that is flexible and puts the ownership on the disabled person
Care-giving responsibilities include and are not limited to:
  • Personal care, including showering, bathing and dressing
  • Moving and handling equipment
  • General housekeeping
  • Meal preparation

ABOUT YOU:

  • Passionate about making a difference!
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Great people skills
  • Sense of humour
  • Professionalism that will make you shine in your role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible and committed
  • An outside-the-box thinker
  • Own a reliable vehicle and at least a Restricted Diver licence.

As we are looking to build a team of support workers, there are opportunities for entry-level and experienced support workers. For experienced support workers, we need at least three years of experience in the sector or a level 4 qualification in health and well-being.

Benefits for successful applicants:

Location - we hate commuting too - and we'll do our best to provide clients as close to you as possible.
Flexibility - We understand how difficult it can be to find a job that balances your time with school, kids, or other priorities. We do our best to provide flexible options that work with your schedule.

Training - Opportunities for sector training and courses to help you grow in your position and gain professional experience for future opportunities. If you do not have qualifications in the sector, we will support you in working towards NZ qualifications in health and well-being.

Culture - become a part of a very well-established and high-performing team.

If you believe you have what it takes and have access to a reliable vehicle, why not apply now?
