About the Role
As an Asbestos Removalist, you will carry out safe and compliant asbestos removal and disposal activities across a range of residential, commercial, and industrial sites. You’ll work within approved Asbestos Removal Control Plans (ARCPs), support site safety, and ensure all work meets regulatory and company standards.This role is hands-on, physically demanding, and critical to maintaining a safe environment for clients, colleagues, and the public. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement, training, and maintaining AR Plus’ strong safety culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesAsbestos Removal & Site Work
- Carry out friable and non friable asbestos removal in accordance with ARCPs and WorkSafe NZ regulations.
- Build and dismantle enclosures, negative pressure units, decontamination units, and other control measures.
- Prepare vehicles, transport waste, and maintain tools and equipment.
- Lead onsite teams to complete removal work safely and efficiently.
- Complete site documentation including checklists, ARCPs, Take 5s, toolbox meetings, and waste tracking.
- Follow job specifications and company quality standards.
- Follow all company and site-specific health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Use PPE correctly and maintain clean, compliant worksites.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Participate in EHS meetings, audits, and corrective action processes.
- Maintain current asbestos removal competencies and NZQA qualifications.
- Participate in ongoing training, refresher courses, and health monitoring.
- Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on processes and systems.
Qualifications
Required:- NZQA 29765 – Remove non friable asbestos
- NZQA 29766 – Remove friable asbestos
- Class 1 NZ full driver licence
- EWP, Working at Heights, First Aid, WRT endorsement, Class 2 NZ driver licence
- Experience in asbestos removal, construction, demolition, or related fields
- Physically fit and able to work in controlled environments
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Professional, honest, and a supportive team player
- Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Zero safety breaches or contamination events
- High-quality work delivered on time
- Accurate documentation and daily logging in Fergus
- Active participation in training and safety meetings
- Consistent use and maintenance of PPE and equipment
