Health Care Assistant - Level 4

As a Health Care Assistant at Makoha Tauranga, each day will always present you with something new. Most importantly, you will be making a big difference in our resident’s lives. Work together as part of a dedicated, caring and supportive team with up to 25 residents and their whanau.

• A minimum of 32 Hours per week
• Shifts include: PM shifts 2:15pm – 10:45pm, Night shifts 10:30pm – 7:00am and Weekends.
• A minimum hourly rate of $28.25- $29.66

• To deliver care safely, efficiently, and effectively by prioritising attendance to residents needs and delivering the best care possible according to duty schedules, and the nursing procedure manuals.
• Work collaboratively to implement and support a person-centered approach to maximise independence.
• Take a leadership role and work within the responsibilities and boundaries of the role.
• Ensure that all routine cares are delivered as per resident’s care plans including, showering, dressing, mobilising, grooming and nutritional assistance.
• Demonstrate professional behaviour and maintain residents’ privacy, confidentiality, dignity & comfort.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• The role of a Healthcare Care Assistant requires empathy, understanding and patience.
• Attendance and a positive contribution to staff meetings, mandatory training as well as participating in annual performance appraisals.
• Adhere to Health and Safety Policies. Report any hazards and incidents and accidents. Cooperate with any investigations.
• To follow sound basic hygiene and infection control principles particularly in relation to hand hygiene.

• Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or equivalent qualification.
• Experience within aged care - minimum of 2 years experience.
• Experience with medication administration but training will be provided.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with residents, their families and your team members.
• Be familiar with computers and able to learn new systems as required.
