Christchurch - Restaurant Manager

Malaysia Delights Limited is looking for a Permanent full-time Restaurant Manager. You will be expected to work between 30 and 40 hours per week and be paid between $30 to $36 per hour. You will be expected to work in a busy environment, but you must be presentable, reliable, and able to deliver under pressure while maintaining the highest quality and presentation standards.

• Accomplish restaurant human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Achieve restaurant operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
• Meet restaurant financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Plan menus by consulting with chefs; estimate food costs and profits; adjust menus.
• Control costs by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation; minimising waste; ensuring high quality of preparation.
• Avoid legal challenges by conforming to the regulations related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
• Maximise profitability by ensuring portion control; monitoring the accuracy of charges.
• Publicise the restaurant by designing and placing advertisements; inviting food editors to review the restaurant; contacting local, regional, and national magazines with feature ideas; and encouraging local businesses to hold social events at the restaurant.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; securing revenues; developing and implementing disaster plans; maintaining security and sprinkler systems; and maintaining parking lot and walkways.
• Maintain ambience by controlling lighting, background music, linen service, glassware, dinnerware, and utensil quality and placement; monitoring food presentation and service.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organisations.
• Enhance department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Ability to work well under pressure and in a business environment;
• Must be able to work unsupervised;
• Have at least 3 years of experience as a Business Manager or related qualification;
• Enjoy being part of a small team and must be able to communicate with Customers and

existing Chefs; -Reliable, hardworking and well organised
