100% West Coast Ellerys is a trusted, locally owned home appliance retailer known for exceptional customer service and expert advice. We are looking for a friendly, professional Retail Sales Assistant and Customer Service Representative to join our Westport team in a part time role.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will support customers before, during, and after their purchase, help maintain store presentation, and assist with stock management, stock deliveries, and general store operations. As a key customer-facing team member, you will contribute to creating a welcoming, positive experience for all customers while supporting the success of the 100% West Coast Ellerys Westport store.
This position is part time, worked across Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, with rostered Saturday work from 10:00am–1:00pm.
Key Responsibilities
You will:- Welcome customers warmly, provide assistance, and help create a positive sales environment.
- Guide customers to suitable products and offer relevant product information and suggestions.
- Resolve customer queries or complaints professionally.
- Accurately process sales, including EFTPOS, cash, credit cards, finance cards, and after-pay services.
- Maintain accurate customer records and sales documentation.
- Contribute to achieving sales goals and participating in store marketing activities.
- Keep up to date with product knowledge and participate in training.
- Assist with stock management, including receiving, dispatching, stock movement reconciliation, and managing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records for all inward and outward goods.
- Process faulty goods, claims, credits, and inter-branch transfers.
- Deliver stock to customers when required, safely and in a timely manner.
- Assist with opening and closing the store, including accurate end-of-day till balancing and cash handling.
About You
We are looking for someone who:- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Is friendly, approachable, and enjoys helping people
- Is reliable, organised, and works well in a team
- Has strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Is willing to learn product information and confidently discuss options with customers
- Is physically able to assist with stock handling and deliveries (e.g. moving and handling large fridges and other large whiteware goods).
- Is comfortable with basic computer systems
- Retail or customer service experience is beneficial but not essential—we provide training.
- A full NZ driver licence is essential
