- About the role The Principal Communications and Engagement Advisor role sits at the heart of the Directorate.
You will be central to shaping and managing the communications and engagement work programme.You will be a seasoned senior professional who can think quickly, manage efficiently, and demonstrate leadership.
This is a versatile role and offers the opportunity to work across both internal and external communications and engagement functions, supporting the wider team.The successful candidate will be required to be on our media on call roster (approximately 1 week in every 6 weeks) and may be asked to act as a Public Information Manager (PIM).
PIM training will be provided, if needed.
Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga- What you'll bring to the role:You will bring 10+ years of experience in a broad range of strategic communications and engagement roles.
You will be comfortable operating across an organisation and used to working at a senior level.
You will have an excellent attention to detail and a commitment to plain English.Your strong and clearly demonstrated strategic thinking and nous will be integral to being successful in this role.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:Have deep and demonstrable expertise across a broad spectrum of communications and engagement disciplinesBe a strategic thinker with the ability to identify and articulate clear insights from complex problems, to synthesise a range of perspectives and to identify and manage riskHave significant experience working directly with Boards and Chief Executives to provide authoritative and professional strategic communications and engagement advice and supportHave a proven ability to work at pace, accurately and to a high quality; be organisedDemonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
