About the Role
We are looking for a Mental Health Care Assistant to assist in the delivery of a Day Services Programme at Te Awhina, the Acute mental health inpatient unit at Whanganui Hospital
About the Team/Service/ Location
Te Awhina is a 12-bed inpatient unit for people over the age of 18. Based on the Whanganui Hospital campus, Te Awhina treats service users who are in the acute phase of their mental illness.
In addition to the treatment offered, the service provides sensory modulation rooms, day activities and peer support. The multi-disciplinary teamwork in partnership with service users and their family/whanau to support their recovery. We offer day activities where service users can express themselves creatively to help in their recovery journey.
You will be located on the Whanganui Campus. Whanganui is a great little progressive city with a friendly chilled vibe. Great café culture, schools and sporting opportunities with some of the best all year-round weather in the country. The rugged west coast beaches on your doorstep allow for all year surfing, fishing or just walking for miles.Skiing and hiking on mount Ruapehu just an hour up the road, Whanganui has all your bases covered for a family friendly lifestyle.

This position is ideal for a Mental Health Care Assistant keen to have an impact into the lives of our tangata whaiora and their whanau. This position provides an opportunity to work as part of a supportive integrated multi-disciplinary team and assist in a refreshed programme.
