Senior Public Transport Planner

We are looking for a professional, customer focussed Senior Public Transport Planner to join the Metlink Service Design team in our central Wellington office on Cuba Street.

This is a full-time, fixed term role until September 2026, covering parental leave.

**About the role:**

Reporting to the Manager Service Design, the Senior Public Transport Planner will provide advice and guidance to the Service Design team and manage a complex portfolio of bus and ferry services. This will involve working with external business partners, transport operators and communities.

You will provide analytical knowledge around urban and city planning, act as a Service Design contact point for the business and assist in managing relationships between internal clients and external business partners.

Key to your role will be monitoring and analysing data trends in public transport service performance, travel time and patronage at a network and service level to help tell a story that will lead to the design of a better and improved service.

We are looking for someone who is customer focused professional who can take the initiative.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Highly capable analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Experience working with data and service design documentation using software applications.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stake holders and customers.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $87,079 to $130,619, with a midpoint of $108,849. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
