The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Café Cook to join our team at Timaru Hospital Café.This is a casual role, with hours offered on an as-and-when-required basis.
Your Responsibilities
You will play a key role in delivering fresh, high-quality food by:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for the staff café
- Creating vegetarian and vegan meals, salads, sandwiches, and rolls
- Baking and preparing food using fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Following recipes while adding creativity and flair
- Assisting with general kitchen duties and cleaning
- Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards
About You
We are looking for a hands-on cook who is passionate about food and customer service. You will be:
- Organised, calm, and able to manage your time effectively
- Detail-focused and confident following recipes
- Comfortable working at pace in a busy café environment
- A team player who can also work independently
- Reliable, flexible, and proactive with a positive, can-do attitude
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Cook or Chef
- Previous café experience (preferred)
- A Food Safety Certificate (Unit Standard 167) – desirable
