Community Youth Worker
Help us support and empower rangatahi in Papatoetoe!
We’re looking for a full-time female Youth Worker to join our fun and committed team. The role will involve mentoring and delivering programmes to girls referred by the local High School and also includes working three days a week in our Te Kupenga Alternative Education Programme.
Te Kupenga is our whanau-style education programme for rangatahi who are not in mainstream school. You’ll help create a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging. Some of your mentoring will be with these students, and you’ll also help with their pick-up and drop-off on selected days.
You will have:- A full New Zealand driver’s licence
- A current first aid certificate or willingness to get one
- At least two year experience working with rangatahi – ideally in a school, community, or alternative education setting
- Confidence leading small group sessions and mentoring one-on-one
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Cultural awareness and a commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Experience working with Maori and Pasifika youth
- Competency using technology and basic admin systems (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- An alignment with the Christian values of our organisation
- Passionate about improving long-term outcomes for rangatahi
- A natural relationship builder who communicates well with students, whanau, and school staff
- Reliable, adaptable, and proactive
- Comfortable working in a faith-based environment and supporting young people’s holistic development

Papatoetoe Adolescent Christian Trust (PACT) has been working alongside tamariki, rangatahi, and their whanau in the local community for over 30 years. We’re a faith-based youth organisation that runs mentoring and development programmes across Papatoetoe – both in schools and at our community centre.
