We welcome one and all to join us at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.Mō tēnei tūranga | About the roleThe Quality Assurance Division (QAD) at NZQA plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and quality of non-university qualifications and programmes across Aotearoa.

We're focused on learner wellbeing, system performance, and the capability of tertiary education organisations. This focus is supported through close working relationships with Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs), the TEC, MoE, University NZ, peak body groups and other government departments.We're excited to offer a newly established opportunity for two Evaluators, TEO Self Review in the System Performance and Capability business unit of the Quality Assurance Division (QAD).

As a member of the System Performance and Capability unit, this role is central to supporting the TEO's annual understanding of the effectiveness of their qualifications and quality assurance. This role supports and oversees the quality improvement TEOs undertake as well as supporting the wider system performance and capability teams thematic review and capability building activity.
In order to do this role, a comprehensive knowledge of the Vocational Education Training system, the wider tertiary education system, education in New Zealand is desirable.You'll bring a strong understanding of adult learning and teaching, assessment and moderation, learner support and value of training outcomes to a critical friend relationship with TEOs throughout New Zealand.
Excellent communication skills alongside strong prioritising and organising abilities will be necessary. This is a role that supports a QAD as a regulator. You'll support the development of quality assurance capabilities and understanding aligned with regulatory requirements and good practice.

You're a flexible, agile thinker, who's not afraid to roll your sleeves up on adhoc or urgent tasks to support the System Performance and Capability team as well as the wider QAD.You're quick to grasp complex situations, and you know how to navigate ambiguity with confidence and clarity.You bring attention to detail, sound judgement, and a collaborative mindset.

You're someone who builds trust and effective relationships quickly, communicates with clarity, and knows how to deliver results.Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga | What you'll bring to the roleWe're looking for someone who can demonstrate:An excellent knowledge and understanding of the principles associated with good practice in assessment, moderation, teaching, learning and learner safety and wellbeing.A proven ability to apply the principles of critical friend and trusted adviser to influence or facilitate outcomes and deliver results.A proven ability to analyse situations and materials, identify a range of feasible options and make informed decisions taking into account the context of the education organisation, the wider environment and tertiary education system.A proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships alongside an ability to adapt approach and style to work effectively in an ambiguous, changing environment.Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.A proven ability to plan, prioritise and manage work effectively to achieve deliverables in tight timeframes.

This would include the ability to identify risks in a timely manner and recommend risk mitigation strategies.A proven ability to engage meaningfully with Māori underpinned by a understanding of Te Ao Māori and the Māori worldview.Experience in the use of Microsoft tools and applications and collaborative software.
