Assistant shop and Deli manager

Our staff must be well versed in the origins of the produce that we offer and its traditional heritage, including regionally, where it comes from and how it is produced before it reaches us here.
About the role:
The essentials skills and experience you need to have are:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience working in a food shop & deli and customer service experience, or similar.
- Good knowledge of Mediterranean food & beverage products, therefore you are very confident to highlight their features to customer and maximize both orders and buys. More than 90% of our Mediterranean products are Italian products.
- A strong Italian background and knowledge is very crucial to our business not only to sell food & beverage items but at the same time to tell customers the ‘values’ which are part of the product and around the product (origin, location, ingredients, production, product’s strengths). Only to give some examples is crucial you are familiar and can explain to customers different kinds of ‘prosciutto’ and different kinds of cheese with their own features and differences, and so on.
- Experience from retail, hospitality, customer service at high levels
- Experience in both marketing and import/export processes is a plus.
- A knowledge on wines is also a plus, useful to better promote our wide wines sections.
So, we are looking for a talented Retail Assistant Manager with the right background and skill to lead and mentor the Shop & Deli workers here.

Be confident to perform well during busy service periods.
Great communication skills.
Good administration skills and be able to understand budgets and P&L reports.
Ensuring that customers receive prompt service and quality goods and services
Responding to customers' inquiries and complaints about goods and services
Planning and preparing work schedules and assigning staff to specific duties
Instructing staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales procedures
Examining returned goods and deciding on appropriate action
Taking inventory of goods for sale and ordering new stock
Ensuring that goods and services are correctly priced and displayed
Ensuring safety and security procedures are enforced
