Position Description
Everil Orr Living is a boutique retirement village and care centre in the heart of Mt Albert. Everil Orr Living is owned and operated by Airedale Property Trust (APT). Together, the Three Trusts (MMN, APT and Lifewise) hold and manage directly a portfolio of social housing, retirement villages, retail and residential properties.
This Cafe Assistant is a front-of-house role responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and engaging experience for residents of Everil Orr Village and Care facility, as well as their guests.

WHAT YOU’RE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of the café
- Open and close the café according to the roster.
- Ensure accurate daily cash-up and manage café finances.
- Maintain the café’s reputation by delivering and promoting exceptional customer service.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, including:
Full monthly stocktake.
Ordering necessary stock (food and ingredients) under Kitchen managers supervision.
- Weekly stocktake of food and beverages.
- Full monthly stocktake.
- Ordering necessary stock (food and ingredients) under Kitchen managers supervision.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Monitor daily and weekly cleaning schedules as per policy.
- Record food temperatures daily or weekly in line with policy.
- Ensure the presentation of the venue, menus, and marketing materials is of a high standard.
- Perform general café duties, including food preparation, making coffee, cleaning tables, washing dishes, etc.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to team members.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Competently complete administration duties
- Observe and comply with all operational and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrate strong drive and ambition by identifying opportunities to improve operations and support business growth.
- Report all incidents, accidents and near misses that occur during work
- Actively participate in any health and safety initiatives and contribute to improving health and safety practices
- Use any provided Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety
- Take reasonable care that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons
- Understand the position of Maori as the tangata whenua. Commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and an openness to understanding the application of the articles of Te Tiriti in the context of The Lifewise Trust.

WHAT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU NEED- Must have a food safety certificate
- Successfully managed high-volume cafes/ hospitality units
- Be a strong and positive leader
- Be passionate about delivering exceptional customer service consistently
- Understand financial and sales reports
- Marketing ability for growth at the local level
- Understanding of ethical and sustainable business
- Strong focus on Health & Safety
- Excellent communication skills
