Contribute to transforming the future of health in this Nurse Educator roleLocation: Te Manawa Taki Nursing Collectives; Senior Designated Nurse Scale - Grade 1Permanent, Part-Time 0.5FTEHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleBased in either Taupō, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti or Tokoroa , the Nurse Educator is an essential part of the Te Manawa Taki Senior Nursing team.This permanent, part-time role (0.5FTE), supports continuing professional development and the delivery of evidence- based nursing practice across Public Health Nursing services.Nurse Educators are responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising continuing education programmes.
They are critical in assuring quality educational experiences that prepare the nursing workforce for a diverse, ever-changing health care environment. They are the leaders who document the outcomes of educational programmes and guide students and nursing staff through the learning process.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

In this role you will be able work with senior nurses to assess education and workforce needs and identify strategies to implement and evaluate identified education programmes.
You'll be able to support the learning need of Public Health Nurses working across the system, for example, Pacific and Māori Nursing Groups. You will be an experienced Senior Registered Nurse with proven expert nursing knowledge and skills to provide support to lead a team.Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and hold a current Annual Practicing CertificateA relevant post-graduate qualification (or working towards completion in agreed timeframes)3+ years working either within the clinical area or relevant nursing roleAn excellent communicator, with proven effective leadership experience, skills and expertise with a high level of interpersonal skillsA current PDRP of Senior or Expert Level or working towards within agreed timeframesExperience and credibility with the health care team as a professional resource in speciality/practice areaDemonstrated ability to articulate evidence-based nursing practice to a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated knowledge of:Current issues for nursing and health in NZ and international contextCurrent nursing professional standards and codesPrinciples of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and biculturalismA current full driver's license (without restrictions)Emotional intelligence and ability to work in complex and stressful environments, with a wide range of diverse stakeholdersProficient computer literacy including Microsoft packagesBe champions for, and promote the profession of nursing, including PDRP / Huarahi Whakatu / QLPWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
