- About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of education by connecting prospective students and communities with the life-changing opportunities available through the University of Waikato.
Actively promote the Division of Education programmes and experience to prospective and current students in order to drive enrolments, inspire student engagement, and help foster a sense of community and motivation.No two days are the same in this highly relationship-focused role.
You will coordinate communications, events and engagement activities, while building meaningful connections with schools, career advisers, community groups, students and whānau.A key focus of the role is increasing participation from communities that have not traditionally engaged with university study.
You'll use your initiative, communication skills and collaborative approach to create positive experiences that enhance the University's reputation and support our wider engagement goals.This is a part-time role (0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours per week), with flexibility around days and hours of work.

You will have the ability to build strong relationships, including strong internal partnerships with other teams across the University, effective working relationships with schools, senior leaders, teachers and career advisers, and most importantly, supportive relationships with prospective students and their whānau from a range of backgrounds.You will have demonstrated strong communication and negotiation skills and be comfortable working in complex situations that require a growth mindset.
Strong relational intelligence and the ability to work alongside and motivate others to achieve a common goal are also essential.You are a highly organised professional who loves working with people in a fast-paced environment.
Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and experience in marketing, communications or public relations.Ko wai mātou?
- Who are we?Te Wānanga Toi Tangata Division of Education includes Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education, Wilf Malcolm Institute of Educational Research, Te Whai Toi Tangata Institute of Professional Learning and Poutama Pounamu.
