Being an iconic business in Invercargill Ascot Food Group Limited has been in a successful run for over 20 years and it owns several food outlets and a catering operation which provides authentic Chinese meals with a complement of choices to happy customers residing in Invercargill.

Position

Now we are looking for three Chinese Cuisine Cooks to join our friendly and diverse team. We pay competitive rate for the suitably qualified candidates. Your starting rate will vary from $26-30/hour before tax depending on your experience. This role will be a permanent position, and you will work a minimum of 30 hours per week from Tuesday to Sunday.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of high-quality Chinese dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain a smooth workflow and ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Actively assist chefs in their tasks and responsibilities to support kitchen operations.

• Prepare and manage special food orders for catering events.
• Maintain inventory records and monitor stock levels for vegetables, meats, and other ingredients.
• Follow established service and quality standards while adhering to safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols.
• Ensure all cooking equipment and facilities are maintained in good working condition.
• Perform other duties as requested by the employer, as necessary.

• Two years of relevant experience in similar roles
• A Certificate in Cookery or equivalent is preferred
• Ability to work under pressure and complete orders in time
• Positive attitude and passion for Chinese cuisine
• Fit and healthy
• Good work ethics
• Ability to work in harmony as part of a team
