- ‘There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and wellbeing of our people'.Manager, Maori Practice and Partnerships.Hikitia describes a collection of mental health and addictions services in the Waikato region across our three prisons: Waikeria, Tongariro and Springhill Corrections Facility.
Hikitia has been designed to address the over-representation of prisoners with mental health and addictions issues and is the first of its kind in New Zealand.
It will provide multi-treatment mental health and addictions services, within the prison environment.Ngā kawenga | About the roleAs the Manager for Maori Practice and Partnerships, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of the Māori-centred workforce within Hikitia and will play a key role in providing management support and oversight to the Hikitia Māori-centred workforce.
You will provide Māori-centred input into decision-making for Hikitia services, working in partnership with the Clinical Manager Mental Health and the Health Centre Manager.You will also manage the Māori-centred contracts with external providers.The successful candidate need to have a strong understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure the Hikitia workforce delivers the Māori-centred aspects of the Hikitia Model of Care to a high standard to support tāne to improve their oranga.
He kōrero mōu | About youThe successful candidate will have the following skills and experience.Proficiency in Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga MāoriAbility to work effectively with iwi, other communities, educational providers and cultural organisations.Proven experience of working collaboratively with others to achieve positive outcomes for Māori.Experience working in a high pressure, interdisciplinary environment.Self-awareness and relationship skills enable understanding of the needs of different tāne in our care.A sound knowledge of cultural, peer, clinical and custodial operations to support the delivery of Hikitia.Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships in complex situations.Knowledge of and experience in upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Ability to take a holistic approach to managing relationships with Māori in a Te Ao Māori context to meet the outcomes of Hikitia.Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write in a style appropriate to the target audience.Demonstrated openness to learning and embracing a bi-cultural environment and moderating practices to suit.Have ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks, thus working efficiently and effectively.Ability to think critically and work strategically with excellent attention to detail.Ability to work in a strengths-based way that recognises the potential for individuals to develop and enable resilience.Understands and is committed to and the delivery of the Hikitia Model of Care.Existing relationships or will have the ability to build relationships with Iwi / Mana Whenua across the Waikato Region of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.Utu ā-tau | SalaryThe full salary range is $127,000- $149,223.
