Based at Te Wao Nui (Wellington Children's Hospital)
RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident Doctors - Association (RDA) Multi-Employer Collective Agreements.
Experience and Eligibility
Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who are advanced trainees in Paediatrics;

You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ.

Join our fellow Resident Medical Officers employed by the 3 hospitals in the Wellington Region (Capital Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa) to gain leading experience, medical supervision and training.
Wellington Regional and Kenepuru Hospitals
Wellington Children - s hospital provides a secondary level general paediatric service with a number of special interests, and is also a tertiary referral centre for paediatric surgery, endocrinology and diabetes, childhood epilepsy, neonatal intensive care and genetics.
The Fellow position is full time and is composed of clinical responsibilities, research, and leadership opportunities (such as participation on hospital/departmental committees, teaching, and administration for junior medical staff). Clinical responsibilities will include general outpatient clinics, with the opportunity to participate in sub-specialty clinics, as well as supervising RMOs undertaking acute assessment and in-patient management.
The Fellow may participate in the SMO after hours roster depending on experience, and with back up at all times from one of the consultant paediatricians. Mentoring and leadership of junior medical staff in general paediatrics medicine is an important part of the job.
The Fellow plays a major role in orientation, as well as Registrar exam preparation. There is the opportunity to work as a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatrics for the University of Otago by teaching 5th year medical students. There is dedicated time to develop clinical research and audit.
The position is accredited for 12 months of advanced training in Paediatrics.
