About the RoleGeneral Medicine at Waikato hospital has a great opportunity for a motivated and dynamic physician who is looking to join a supportive and enthusiastic team.We’re looking for a General Medicine Specialist who brings clinical excellence and compassionate leadership to a fast-paced hospital environment.
You'll be central to helping improve patient flow through the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU), supporting decision-making to enhance care and reduce avoidable admissions. Key ResponsibilitiesLead improvements in ED wait times and reduce length of stay in the AMUProvide clinical input in ED and AMUSupport GP admission avoidance via direct communication and collaborationEnsure our team operates efficiently, safely, and with a strong discharge focusMaintain accountability as a consultant delivering high-quality, ethical medical careThe salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the ASMS SECA agreement.

About the Team/ServiceYou will be part of a large, dedicated team of physicians, registrars, clinical nurse specialists, allied health and administrative staff.You will be encouraged to be involved in teaching, continuing medical education and quality improvement.
