Music School General Manager

Location: Avonhead, Christchurch?

• Permanent full-time, 40 hours per week?
• Monday to Friday: 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm?
• Saturday: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm?

We are seeking an experienced manager to oversee the daily operations of our music school. This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and management skills to ensure smooth coordination between students, parents, and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with students, parents, and teachers about lessons, progress, and enquiries?
• Respond to new enquiries via phone, email, text, and in person?
• Assist students and parents with choosing and purchasing or renting instruments?

• Arrange lesson timetables to avoid clashes and keep teachers’ schedules efficient?
• Organize cover for lessons when teachers are unavailable?

• Maintain attendance records, issue invoices, and pay teachers’ wages?
• Recruit and interview new teachers?
• Keep the school clean and secure?

• Manage social media?
• Update the website?

• Liaise with examination boards and register students for exams?
• Purchase books for students and teachers?
• Organize the annual student recital?

• Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Commerce (Management major)?
• At least 2 years’ management experience?

• Able to play at least one musical instrument and understand basic music theory?
• Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin (half of our clients are Chinese)?
• Basic accounting knowledge (PAYE, GST, invoicing)?
• Strong communication and organizational skills?

• $70,000 – $80,000 per year
