Working in neurology you will be dealing with disorders ranging from diseases of muscle to disorders of cognitive function and behaviour and using clinical tools ranging from the bedside clinical assessment, through electrophysiology and molecular biology to functional neuroimaging.

There are X positions accredited for advanced trainees in neurology and X positions for trainees in other advanced training programmes or basic trainees.
The clinical duties are similar except advanced trainees in neurology will be expected to attend subspecialty clinics, including neurophysiology.

Medicine Registrar RunsThe six month rotation includes working in an inpatient neurology unit, an acute stroke unit, and supervised outpatient clinics, as well being responsible for the initial assessment of patients presenting with acute neurological problems.

After hours, registrars participate in a 1 in 6 call roster and at times will be required to cover other medical subspecialties.
Registrars are also active in the teaching and supervision of medical students and house-officers.

  • Applications must be submitted directly to ANZANYou will need to have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam for 2025.These positions will only be offered to those who have passed the clinical exam and completed basic training.

For those completing the exam later this year and should you not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training position and you may be considered for a run allocation.Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
