NZ Police is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety.

You will be working with a hard-working and enthusiastic team who are part of a high performing People Operations group function.

We are looking for an individual who can work closely with our other Payroll Team leaders, whilst supporting NZ Police in the delivery of accurate and fortnightly payroll service, managing a team of Payroll Officers and delivering on our business and Organisational requirements.

Key Accountabilities: Ensure the accurate and timely processing of employee pay entitlements and reimbursements.

Manage payroll-related risks and escalate issues to the Payroll Manager when required.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date payroll master data for all employees.
Implement and monitor controls to ensure the accuracy of changes to employee pay.
Support the team to deliver a high standard of service and a positive experience for all employees.
Stay up to date with legislative changes and employment collective agreements relevant to payroll.
Identify, develop, and implement business process improvements to reduce manual work and enhance efficiency.
Collaborate proactively with the wider People Operations team to deliver high‑quality service to employees.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas: Experience working as a team leader or actively developing toward team leadership responsibilities.
Proficiency in SAP/My Police systems at either a user or specialist level.
Strong understanding of NZ Police Collectives and key legislation relevant to payroll activities, including (but not limited to) the Holidays Act, Wages Protection Act, and other applicable government legislation.
A strong customer service ethos with a commitment to high-quality service delivery.
This role is Team Leader level.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
  • This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 and $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
