About the Role

A hospital Social Worker is all about supporting patients and whanau through tough times. You will be part of a well-established, supportive team that helps people navigate the healthcare system, address emotional and social needs, and connect them with resources.

This casual role works across a range of hospital wards and departments that receive social work support.

Some key aspects of hospital social work include:

  • Patient Advocacy: Supporting patients to navigate the healthcare system and advocating for their needs
  • Emotional Support: Providing support to patients and whanau through challenging times
  • Discharge Planning: Assisting with safe, well-supported discharge plans and connecting people to community resources
  • Collaboration: Working with healthcare teams to ensure holistic, patient-centred care

About the Team/Service/Location

Our team of Clinical Social Workers is employed across the hospital in various departments and wards, supporting local and rural communities.

About You

As a casual Social Worker you will need to:

  • Be registered with the Social Work Registration Board
  • Have 5 years of clinical practice experience
  • Hold a current driver's licence
  • Be able to pass a Vulnerable Children's Check
  • Be fit and healthy
  • Be available to work occasional weekends and after-hours (by negotiation)
