About the RoleAs a Senior Kaihāpai Oranga, you will provide coaching and mentoring support for Kaihāpai Oranga colleagues, and contribute to wider planning, coordination, reporting and collective impact across NPHS and communities. Based within community settings, the Senior Kaihāpai Oranga is integral to building sustainable, long-term partnerships with a range of iwi, Māori and community groups.This role is complementary to the people and performance responsibilities of the Community and Whānau Wellbeing Team Leader and Hauora Māori Tūmatanui leadership.

It is a full time permanent opportunity based in Waikato/Taupō. About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.About youAs a Senior Kaihāpai Oranga, you will be confident and agile working from an iwi/ Māori systems worldview, whilst also drawing on mainstream approaches.

You have lived experience or significant experience working alongside underserved communities. Your previous experience should demonstrate your ability to apply mātauranga Māori, critical thinking and using sound judgment to develop advice, options and support delivery of work programmes.A tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, social science, education, Māori studies or related fields or equivalent experience Passion for local tikanga, history and stories and/or a willingness to develop this Minimum 5 years' experience in public health, community development or a related role Clean NZ Driver Licence Willingness to travel across the regionPassion for Te Reo Māori and/or a willingness to develop skills in this Established relationship with iwi and hapū in the area you will be working inWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
