We're looking for a skilled and qualified electrician to lead the development and operation of a brand-new solar division.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role where you’ll oversee everything from setup and planning to installations, admin, finances, and ongoing maintenance. While you’ll have support from a wider group of companies, this role is ideal for someone who thrives working independently and enjoys building something from the ground up.

Join a respected, well-established group of companies with a strong presence in Hawke’s Bay and across the North Island, known for delivering high-quality commercial property services and projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As the go-to expert for solar solutions, you’ll manage all aspects of solar energy services across commercial properties. This includes:

  • Maintenance & Servicing: Conduct routine inspections and performance checks to ensure solar systems run smoothly and meet all regulatory standards.
  • Repairs: Troubleshoot and fix system faults, replacing components where needed.
  • Installations: Carry out professional solar PV installations following regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Compliance: Issue Certificates of Compliance (COCs) and stay updated with evolving standards and best practices.
  • Customer Engagement: Communicate technical details clearly to tenants and provide ongoing support and advice.
  • Admin & Reporting: Generate quotes, maintain accurate records for invoicing, and oversee project finances and procurement.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside property and project teams to deliver solar projects on time and on budget.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain a strong safety-first approach at all times.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Certifications:
  • EWRB registration and current practicing license with Mains Parallel Generation Systems endorsement
  • Up-to-date safety certifications (working at heights, confined spaces, etc.)
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Experience & Skills:
  • Proven background in commercial solar system installs and servicing
  • Strong technical fault-finding skills
  • Solid management or leadership experience in energy or construction industries
  • Effective communicator with great customer service skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable working with heavy equipment
  • Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You:

  • Are a self-starter who enjoys working independently
  • Have a sharp eye for detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Can travel occasionally (1–2 days at a time)
  • Don’t mind after-hours work when required
  • Have a high level of professionalism and take pride in your work
  • Are a NZ citizen or permanent resident
