About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Allied Health team based in Thames Hospital. In this role you will be assisting the physiotherapists to provide quality care to patients in an inpatient setting. You will play an important role in supporting patients to achieve their goals during their hospital stay.
Key responsibilities Supervising patients with their exercise/therapy programme as prescribed by the qualified Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist. Helping patients to regain their independence with activities of daily living following medical illness/surgery.
Assist the qualified staff to run exercise and breakfast groups. Cleaning, issuing, restocking/ordering of equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment Setting up equipment and family/patient education. About the Team/ServiceAllied Health is a department of the Waikato District that provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetic, Audiology & New Born Hearing screening, Social Work, and Psychology services.
Staff within these professions are all involved in direct client care and work in a wide range of situations to improve the health and wellbeing of the people they work with. Allied Health staff work in partnership with individuals and their family/ whānau to facilitate relationships and a smooth journey through the healthcare system.
Our mission is to ensure that patients receive excellence of care, that our staff are supported and trained to work and maintain levels of evidence-based practice and that our service is equitable, efficient, and effective in order to meet the needs of our patients and their whānau.

Basic/advanced computer and administrative skills. Demonstrate ability to effectively prioritise workload and manage competing demands. Previous experience working in healthcare is desirable.
