We are currently seeking an experienced chef for a full-time position. We require a reliable and hardworking individual that shares our passion for food and service. You will be involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen at Shalom Resthome, Whangarei, and making our client and their residents’ smile!You will be required to prepare meals for around 30 residents, and you will be responsible for 2 direct reports with the evening/weekend staff. To succeed you will need excellent communication skills, food safety knowledge and pride yourself on producing a consistent and delicious meal, time and time again.
This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a chef with relevant experience, or a relevant qualification either in culinary arts or professional cookery with 1-2 years’ relevant experience who can:- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques
- Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations. Strong food safety knowledge.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Have an understanding of rostering, ordering and budgeting while following our balanced menu.
