Welder / Fabricator

Welder/Fabricator Position Available

Based in Tuakau, North Waikato, this is a full-time permanent position, Monday to Friday with rostered weekend work. We are looking for someone who has a minimum of three years welding experience, who has:

• knowledge of metals and their properties
• an understanding of different welding processes and equipment
• the ability to interpret technical drawings
• knowledge and awareness of health and safety
• Must be a certified Welder and be able to pass welding tests.

Main tasks:

• Read drawings and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method, based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
• Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
• Cut, bend and fit steel or metal parts.
• Construct jigs to hold parts in place for welding.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures.
