About the Position | Te Mahi
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate community support workers to support a young whanau with six tamariki who have varying disability support needs.
This role involves providing person-centered support within the home and community, assisting with daily living activities, personal care (PC), and home management (HM).
You will work as part of a two-person support team, providing consistent and reliable support to the whanau.
Shift Times: Monday to Friday
- Morning: 7:00am – 9:30am
- Afternoon: From 4:00pm
An understanding of Kaupapa Maori approaches to care and whanau-centred support would be highly beneficial for this role.
Job Location: Wellington
Responsibilities may include
Supporting tamariki with their daily routines and activitiesProviding personal care support
Assisting with household tasks and meal preparation
Supporting exercise and therapy programmes
Assisting tamariki to access the community
Medication support
Moving and handling, including hoists and transfers
Supporting the tamariki to achieve positive outcomes and goals
Maintaining the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of those we support
Working collaboratively with the whanau and wider support team

About You | He momo
You are a calm, compassionate, and reliable individual who enjoys supporting children and whanau in the community. You understand the importance of patience, resilience, and respectful care when working with tamariki who have diverse support needs.
Experience supporting tamariki with disabilities or complex care needs will be highly valued.
Candidate Pre-Requisites
Ideally, prior personal care experienceExperience working with intellectual or physical disabilities
Understanding of complex care needs is advantageous
A full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is preferred
Ability to travel within the Wellington region
Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification preferred (training available)
Willingness to learn and complete relevant healthcare training
Legal right to work in New Zealand
