About the role
Applications are invited for a Paediatric Nephrologist at Starship Childrens Health. This is a permanent position working 0.88 full-time equivalents. This is your chance to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team consisting of 3.6 full-time equivalent consultants, 3 nurse specialists, 3 dietitians and other allied health professionals providing a high quality clinical service.The person will participate in all aspects of clinical service, teaching, and quality assurance activities. Opportunities for clinical research include collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Auckland and Australian and International Paediatric Nephrology colleagues.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Starship Paediatric Kidney Service is a multidisciplinary team of health care providers committed to providing whanau-centred care. This is accomplished through in-person, virtual, telehealth, and outreach-based outpatient care and Starship-based inpatient care for Mokopuna throughout Aotearoa with kidney disease.
The Department of Paediatric Nephrology offers comprehensive renal care to children throughout New Zealand and is the only referral centre for general paediatric nephrology, dialysis, and transplantation. The service has an extensive outreach support programme to serve children with kidney disease in all regions of the country.The institution is situated on the same site as the adult hospital, enabling close relationships with the adult renal and transplant services.
About you
To be successful, Vocational training in paediatric nephrology is required and must be at least equivalent to nephrology training as prescribed by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The successful applicant must be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.The applicant must have significant clinical experience in the provision of all modalities of renal replacement therapy and all aspects of renal transplantation. The successful applicant will have regular contact with children and young persons under age 16 and will be subject to the requirements of the Childrens Act 2014.
Salary package is in accordance with the New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Senior Medical and Dental Officers Collective Agreement and will be commensurate with the degree of clinical experience and post-graduate qualifications of the applicant.
