Are you a people person with a knack for solving problems on the spot? Nelson City Council is on the lookout for a Customer Service Assistant to join our welcoming frontline team. Every day you’ll make a difference by helping our community with everything from dog registrations and rates payments to bus enquiries and property file requests.
With your friendly, professional approach, you’ll provide accurate information, handle payments, process requests, and ensure every customer receives efficient and respectful service.
About the role | Kō tēnei tūranga mahi- Delivering professional, efficient frontline service to our customers
- Handling enquiries across a wide range of Council services
- Processing payments and balancing tills with accuracy
- Using our systems to log and action requests quickly and correctly
- Supporting your teammates and pitching in when it matters most
About you | Ko ngā pūmanawa ō
You will possess previous customer service experience (retail, hospitality, call center – all welcome!) that will have provided you with opportunity to develop:
- Cash handling and/or EFTPOS know-how
- Confident computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Friendly communication that can adapt to different people and situations
- Resilient, reliable, and ready to thrive on busy days
