Primary Purpose

The Senior Accountant role is for a highly skilled and motivated Senior BAS Accountant. This role will require extensive experience in preparing and processing Financial Statements, GST returns, tax returns and management accounts. The Senior accountant will be responsible for liaising with clients, managing their queries, and providing strategic insights through comprehensive management reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for client enquiries.
  • Management Reports: Prepare and present monthly management reports to clients, providing detailed
financial insights and recommendations as required.
  • Financial Statements: Complete financial statements up to the review stage and conduct meetings with
clients to discuss findings and insights.
  • Tax Returns: Prepare comprehensive tax returns including IR10s, IRJs, and Working for Families calculations,
ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws, GST returns, FBT return and other tax types as required.
  • Accounting Software Support: Assist clients with their individual accounting software systems such as XERO,
MYOB, APS and Farm Focus providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Other duties: Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the directors or practice

manager to support the firm’s operations.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CA or CPA qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in BAS accounting within a New Zealand context.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand tax regulations, including GST, FBT, RWT, and DWT.
  • Proficient in accounting software such as XERO, MYOB, APS, and Farm Focus would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
