Join us at Waikato Hospital in our Older Persons and Rehabilitation (OPR) service, where you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on patient recovery while enjoying a flexible work schedule. About the Role:This part-time, 0.6 FTE physiotherapy position offers you the chance to work within our renowned Older Persons and Rehabilitation Centre.
You’ll be an integral part of a dedicated interdisciplinary team, assessing, treating, and coordinating care for patients undergoing rehabilitation following major surgeries, neurological conditions, and medical related events or within the rehabilitation Gym for those patient’s being followed up from discharge from hospital or referred from the community with neurological based conditions.
We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist with a deep understanding of rehabilitation practices and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. In addition to your clinical expertise, you’ll be instrumental in supervising and mentoring less experienced clinicians, students, and allied health assistants, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-cantered care.

Building strong, effective relationships with your team members—including unit managers—is essential for providing coordinated care while managing broader hospital pressures and patient flow. Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough assessments and design personalised rehabilitation programs for patients.Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, holistic patient care.Mentor and support junior clinicians, students, and allied health assistants.Contribute to the ongoing improvement of rehabilitation practices within the unit.Stay current with rehabilitation literature and evidence-based practices to optimise patient outcomes.Balance time pressures, case load demands and non-clinical activities with expert time management skills.This is a part time position, requiring 48 hours per fortnight (ideally across Monday to Friday).

There’s also the opportunity to participate in an on-call weekend respiratory roster for additional exposure and to build/maintain your acute respiratory skills.Click here to view the position description.
