IT Operations Manager

We are partnering with an Auckland based ,highly successful NZ business with global reach. Who are seeking an IT Operations Manager to take a leading role in overseeing and guiding their technology environment.
This role is ideal for a mid-career infrastructure or systems professional who is ready to step into a broader position with greater ownership, visibility and long-term influence.

Working within a vendor-supported environment, you will play a key role in understanding the current IT landscape, strengthening operational oversight and helping shape the future direction of infrastructure and core business systems.

About the role

This role will begin with a strong discovery and assessment phase, where you’ll develop a deep understanding of the organisation’s infrastructure, systems, vendor arrangements and operational dependencies.

You’ll work closely with leadership and external providers to ensure IT services are effective, reliable and aligned with business needs. Over time, you’ll contribute to shaping the future cloud environment and guiding the evolution of core business platforms.

You won’t be expected to drive immediate change — instead, you’ll take a measured, thoughtful approach to understanding the environment and developing a clear roadmap for the future.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee the organisation’s IT operations in partnership with external service providers
  • Assess infrastructure, systems, and vendor performance
  • Contribute to planning future cloud infrastructure direction
  • Support the evolution and improvement of core business systems
  • Act as the primary liaison between the business and IT vendors
  • Help ensure reliability, resilience, and effectiveness of IT services
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to leadership on technology matters
About you

You bring strong technical foundations, genuine understanding around how technology supports business outcomes and the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will likely have:

  • Strong experience in infrastructure, systems, or cloud environments
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar
  • Experience working in vendor-supported or outsourced IT environments
  • Exposure to ERP or business systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a practical mindset
  • Interest in growing into a broader IT leadership role over time
