About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga The Senior Procurement Specialist
  • Infrastructure shapes procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that the Ministry, schools and kura receive from their expenditure, contributing to the growth of future generations in New Zealand.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be: Leading a variety of high value and complex procurements across our national programmes and property portfolio, engaging Main Contractors, Professional Services Consultants (Designers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Engineer to the Contract) and other services.

Working collaboratively with other members in your team, including sharing expertise and lessons learnt through procurements.
Working collaboratively with our stakeholders to undertake needs analysis and risk assessment.
Developing sourcing strategies (including regular contact with our supplier base) Creating procurement plans.
Leading evaluations.
Facilitating contract negotiation and award processes.
Contributing to an environment of continual process improvement.

Being proactive and demonstrating autonomy by consistently meeting deadlines and managing workload efficiently.

Salary range: $99,496

  • $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.

The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake You will have the ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to prioritise and multi-task in an environment where workloads can escalate quickly.Paramount is a positive and ‘can do' attitude.

Experience in the public sector and/or the construction industry would be advantageous (but not necessarily essential).

You will also offer: Good commercial nous

  • an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks.

A willingness to learn and develop in a dynamic environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ideally a Tertiary or industry qualification in a related field (e.g.
CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting) or industry relevant experience.
Some experience in data analysis and reporting.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

We enable the organisation to operate effectively and help fulfil the statutory and reporting obligations of Te Tāhuhu.
The Infrastructure Procurement team sits within Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate and is a vibrant and diverse team, where no two days are the same.

We work together with our partners in School Property to deliver effective, inclusive procurement solutions, which support the Ministry's vision that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio.

This all contributes to helping deliver equitable and excellent outcomes for every child in our education system.
