Role: We are seeking a motivated Assistant Grocery Manager to support the Store Owner in the day-to-day management of our Indian grocery store. This role involves supervising staff, managing stock and suppliers, supporting retail and wholesale sales, and maintaining strong relationships with key restaurant customers.

Hours and Pay: Minimum 30 hours | $28-$32 per hour (depending on experience)
Minimum qualification/experience: At least bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of experience in similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote and support in-store promotions, cultural festival campaigns, and seasonal product offerings.Actively sell retail and wholesale grocery products, advising customers on product selection, usage, and suitability.
Support the formulation and implementation of purchasing, pricing, and marketing strategies, including promotional planning and supplier coordination.
Assist in determining the appropriate product mix, stock levels, and customer service standards, with a strong focus on Indian and South Asian grocery products.
Place and manage purchase orders with suppliers based in Auckland and overseas, ensuring timely replenishment of stock and continuity of supply.
Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries, supplier invoices, and financial transactions.
Assist with budgeting, cost control, and monitoring sales performance to support store profitability.
Support the selection, training, rostering, and supervision of retail staff.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, food safety, and workplace regulations.
Coordinate with the trade customers, using these interactions to maintain strong business relationships, understand customer needs, and support ongoing wholesale sales.
Other Skills/Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Indian grocery products and brands.Excellent communication and people-management skills.
Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Competency with POS systems and retail administration.
Full or restricted New Zealand driver licence is required, as the role involves visiting restaurant customers.
