We’re a small, tight-knit building company based in the Wellington region, specialising in all types of residential work – from new builds to renovations, extensions, and the occasional deck or fence. We’re about to start a new build in Taita, and we generally keep our work within a 25 km radius of Lower Hutt with the occasional architectural home beyond that.
The Role:We’re looking for a qualified builder with at least 5 years’ experience in residential construction. You’ll be hands-on across a variety of projects, working both independently and as part of our small team. For the right person, there’s an opportunity to step up into a Leading Hand role.

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years on the tools (residential)
- Qualified builder (NZQA or equivalent)
- Comprehensive tool kit
- Own reliable transport (full NZ driver’s licence)
- Good attitude, reliable, able to work alone and in a team
- Ability to read and understand architectural plans and specifications
- References required
Leading Hand Expectations:
- Capable of quantifying and ordering materials accurately
- Organise council and/or engineer inspections
- Work to a schedule with the aptitude to adapt to changing environments (weather, material delays, customer changes etc.)
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, sub-trades, merchants, inspectors etc.
- Clearly communicate day-to-day events and expectations to all involved
- Ability and willingness to coach and train carpenters and apprentices
