Food Production Supervisor

- Level 4- Trade Certificate or Diploma is required.
- OR at least one of relevant experience is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Crop Production Supervision
Supervise day-to-day orchard or berry farm operations across the full plant lifecycle.
Oversee seasonal activities including pruning, thinning, training, spraying support, and harvesting.
Ensure crop handling meets quality and export standards where applicable.- Harvest and Picking Oversight
Monitor picking teams to ensure fruit is harvested to required maturity, quality, and productivity targets.
Ensure correct picking techniques are followed to prevent plant and fruit damage.
Coordinate harvest schedules with management and packhouse requirements.- Irrigation and Plant Health Monitoring
Monitor irrigation systems and ensure watering schedules meet crop and soil requirements.
Identify plant health issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies and report to Orchard Manager.
Assist in implementing pest and disease control programs as directed.- Staff Supervision and Training
Supervise orchard workers and seasonal staff to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
Provide on-job training for new workers on orchard practices, health and safety, and productivity expectations.
Monitor worker performance and report issues to management.- Health and Safety Compliance
Ensure all staff follow health and safety procedures, including safe use of tools, ladders, and machinery.
Conduct daily safety briefings where required.
Report hazards, incidents, or near misses according to company policy.- Quality Control and Productivity Monitoring
Check completed work (pruning, thinning, picking etc.) to ensure it meets orchard standards.
Maintain productivity records and assist with reporting daily outputs.
Support continuous improvement of orchard processes.- Equipment and Resource Management
Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained in good working order.
Assist with stock control of orchard supplies such as bins, picking bags, and irrigation materials.- General Orchard Duties
Assist with general orchard maintenance including trellis repairs, weed control support, and block clean-up.
Support other operational tasks as required by orchard management.
