Asa Clinical Nurse Specialist you will:Support and work alongside our patients, and their whanau/family, through their journey following cancer diagnosis.Apply nursing knowledge, utilise your specialised assessment skills, with strong clinical inquiry, clinical reasoning and critical thinking when determining care of patients in OTR (on treatment review) clinics.Coordination of complex care, symptom management and discharge planning for high risk groups such as patients with central nervous system cancer receiving radiotherapy and combined chemotherapy/radiotherapy.Contribute to processes, pathways, policies and procedures to ensure safe, quality care to our patients.Role model and lead continued development of evidence-based oncology nursing practice and share this knowledge with the Registered Nurses in the oncology service.Act as a specialist resource for new and existing staff, ensuring staff are fully supported and provided with opportunities to develop.Aboutthe ServiceTheradiation oncology department is part of the Canterbury regional cancer andhaematology service at Christchurch Hospital based on the lower ground floor.
