Public health nursing includes assessment of population health, attention to the multiple determinants of health, an emphasis on primary prevention, and continued commitment to best evidence based public health nursing practice.
This is a permanent full-time role however we will except part time (0.8FTE).About the Team/Service/ LocationOur public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand
  • Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About youAs a successful candidate, you will show and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role.

You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach

You are able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope, both independently, as and part of a nursing team.Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered NurseHolds a current Annual Practising CertificateAn ongoing commitment to professional developmentExperience working in child / whānau / community healthA commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for underserved whānau and communities.Be prepared to work towards, or already, an authorised vaccinator (3 years+) and / or whole of life authorised vaccinator, as required for the roleDemonstrated competence in application of Māori health models to Nursing practiceDemonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work with a diverse range of people in a variety of community based settingsFull Drivers LicenceWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
